I say prayers for you, Amiee…..every day. I wish there was more I could do.

    • 6-3-2012

Prayers are HUGE! God created the Heavens and this Earth that we live on. Non-selfish prayers that have faith even the size of a small little mustard seed, which is SO tiny, can move a mountain! Continue saying your prayers, but when you say them, have the faith and the knowledge that God WILL carry out what you ask of Him. Hold your head high when it comes to your prayer, bc like Amie’s dad, you know God WILL answer that. So what better thing could you do for them? (And you know a great way to pray is using ACTS-I don’t remember what the :

A stands for, but it means PRAISE GOD FIRST, tell him how awesome and great he is-for saving Amie’s life, for creating the heavens and the earth, the mountains, the oceans, the birds, you, me, ect. So many things to praise him for.

C stands for confession, yep, God already knows all the yucky things, so might as well tell him, and the more often we do this, the less there is to tell, and the easier it gets, and the less naughty things we do cuz it isn’t fun tell someone over and over all the crap you’ve done…

T means thank God for the things he’s provided, like thank him for keeping Amie alive and for giving her a leg and arms and for her breathing on her own and talking and just making such progress so fast! Amazing! Thank him for any and all great things in your life.

S is SELF, this is where we ask God to help amie out, where we ask him for what we need would really like to see happen, and this is in daily life too, but this is where we ask for the things that we need or want. Ask the Lord to continue to heal Amie, to keep giving her strength and courage, and to also keep her so focused on getting better that the realization of not having her hands or leg doesn’t soak in for a while, and when it does, that she’ll have a therapist set up to help her go through the stages of acceptance.

Sorry I guess this wasn’t really aimed directly at you, other than to you not to wish you could do more than pray cuz for this family praying is central and is most important, and God really has answered so many prayers for them. But telling how to pray was more for anyone and everyone. Itsthe most simple way to discribe it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am so sorry for you, it could be me in your shoes. I have been through my own dilemmas in the past like the 1-1/2″ steel cable that was stuck ALL THE WAY through my left leg after being pulled down a steep hill by my dog backwards and the cable was the only thing that stopped me from being dragged all the way down a 55 degree hill. I was backwards and my head was looking up the hill. I was just going down the river to fish and run my RC Boat with my dog. If not for the rusty cable going through my leg I would have been dragged into sharp rocks and possibly killed if my neck had snapped. I did not take any pain meds at the hospital and even if I had they would have done nothing for me cause I take doctor prescribed suboxone.

I had to snap the rusty cable to get loose and pull myself back up the hill with a small quarter inch nylon rope then pull out the individual stands of the cable out of my leg to even walk back to my house about a half mile home to get help. I could not move my left leg cause of the cables stuck into in, but pulled them out 1 strand at a time. But again, That could have been me with the flesh eating bateria. My personal doctor told me and I quote, “Steve, buddy, what the f*ck were you thinking”. And I told him that it was an honest mistake in that I should have just let my dog run down the hill but I tied him to me.

That was about a year ago and I have to say was the scariest moment of my life. Ever painful as it was I knew that it was just a bump in the road and that we are all meant a beacon of light somewhere down the road of life. Good luck to you, this is a factual story and the proof is in this case not in the pudding by my left leg.

    Aimee,

I have been following your progress for about three weeks now and all I can say is wow, what a wonderful, courageous person you are! It is your fortitude that has given me inspiration in my own life. You are not only beautiful, I can tell you have a good heart and your personality and ability to overcome will get you anything you want in life. Kudos to you, dear Aimee, and to your wonderfully supportive family. My prayers and thoughts are with you daily,

Hi aimee, my name is amy and i just heard about your story. You are about my age and i just want you to know i think you are an amazing person. I will be praying for you and thinking about you. Sometimes wierd things happen and its people like you that make me want to be a better person. I wish the best for you. Keep fighting! Kick it in the butt

  4. 6-1-2012

God bless Aimee. She is so beautiful and will remain so. She is blessed!!

  5. 6-3-2012

I have been following Aimee’s story from the beginning. My heart and prayers are with her and her family. As a postoperative RN and wound nurse. Her story has actually made me more aware in my own practice.

  6. 6-5-2012

Aimee, your spirit and soul will carry you through the challenges you may encounter in your future. You are going to have a huge, positive impact upon the world and everyone you will encounter. Heal quiuckly!

  7. 6-5-2012

You are beautiful Aimee, you look to be a free spirit and I can see you as an acitivist one day. I have had you in my prayers since I learned of you, your dad is very loving, reminds me of mine sometimes, but I am all grown up now and he is gone. Treasure these days Aimee, though you are healing and all just treasure this love you are recieving, I know it is hard sometimes, and this is a big burden God has placed on you, but he obviously has chosen you for something very important. I have not had the greatest of lives but I have tried my best and took what I could to help others, now I am getting older but I see something in you that will move mountains, many more then I ever could imagine. If you are bored in the hospital some day, check out me out on google, cynthia chapman manuszak, and I have this on going thing I do called The Pink Show. I am doing a clothing line, maybe you could help me design a few t-shirts, it is for women’s causes. Just if you want, but even so, there are amazing things to do and I know you will find your niche. When my father was dying God showed me second Cor. 5. It literally saved my mind to know he was leaving earth for his new body, but now that I am thinking about it, it could really help you too. Our bodies here on earth are so temporary. Our forever bodies will be perfect. That is why it is not good to get to attatched to them anyway. Heck, mine has had these horrible scars on it since I was 17 and my son Nick is facing amputation of his left leg. I have a hard time talking to him about his leg sometimes and maybe just crossing your path is part of God’s plan. You give the country strength. I see that in reading all the beautiful comments. I chose to comment on this picture because you reminded me of me when I was your age. I think I even had a skirt like that! You are beautiful Aimee, and I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you often, maybe because I am a mom but also as a woman who cares about the lives of other women. I just finished my Master’s in art but am taking some time off just to be a mom. I always have time to be a friend and I do hope you get to read this. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love!

  8. 6-6-2012

What a strong and brave young woman! I am praying for you and your family! Keep fighting!!

  9. 6-6-2012

I have been keeping up with Aimee’s progress. I am also a Psychology major at West Georgia. Aimee and I did not have the pleasure of getting to know each other on campus but I have been truly concerned and hoping the best for Aimee. It is such an inspiration how Aimee is using meditation and maintaining her own self motivation. That is one of the main concepts that we are taught in the field of therapy. I am confident that Aimee will succeed in pursuing her dreams in the field of psychology. This is not the end, It is a new beginning!

  10. 6-8-2012

Hi Aim, Can I call you that, I just find it so fitting to your spirit. I am from the Caribbean & I live on an island called Trinidad and Tobago. I came across your story after seeing another story about that same illness on the front page of the internet & decided to research it. I just want to tell you that your story has made me look at life differently and I want to remind you that philippians-4-13 says that you can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens you. He is a God that makes a way where there seems to be none. I know its not easy but just keep seeking Jesus & he will walk with you, carry you, guide you & will never turn his back on you. I will remember you and your family in my prayers. Continue to live your dreams, I know you have & will continue to be an inspiration to many, many people. God Bless.

  11. 6-9-2012

Well, I for one am not happy with what God has decided to do with Aimee. Why Jehovah has tortured this young girl in this fashion is infuriating. I want to put a gun to his loins and ask him why. Not happy.

    • 6-10-2012

I am so sorry you are hurting this much, but I do understand. ๐Ÿ™

    • 6-21-2012

I’m so sorry you are filled with such deep negative feelings; however, have you EVER considered the fact that it just might have been the Devil that caused this to happen. God is a loving God. Why would he ever want to hurt one of his children. As for Aimee, I have this feeling tht she Knows God has her wrapped in HIS arms.

  12. 6-13-2012

    Aimee,

I will pray for your recovery from this devastating disease. You are a very brave, beautiful person with a loving heart. I am 71 years old, and have a debilitating disease that changed my own life. With the help of your loving family and friends and God’s love, you will have many happpy moments in your life, and more love than you ever thought was possible. God Bless You, Always!

    Dear Aimee,
I just read about your story, as tears begin to flow and goose bumps build up over me, I wish with all I have in me to be able to say something that might make your day, or lift your spirits. I am at a loss for words right now but, not without emotion. Please, if you read this know that there is someone in Southern California this morning thinking of you. I will continue to follow you, I promise so you will never be alone. You have your family to love and support you, and you have God, our Heavenly Father. He is mindful of ALL you are going through, and he knows you by name. Lean on Him, He will NEVER leave you comfortless. Do not give up, no matter what is still to come, …follow your dream still with your education, you will be a great comfort to so many, and as long as you have your VOICE,…you will have your LIFE. I am thinking of you and will carry you within me.

Aimee, I’ve been following your most courageous journey through this horrific ordeal. Please know that thoughts & prayers are with you daily. GOD is GREAT! He is right beside you & will continue to stay with you throughout your recovery. Keep fighting! Miracles do happen!

  15. 6-15-2012

Your courage has already touched many. I have found in my lifetime that people like you change lives and have nothing but postive affects on others. You are undergoing a trial of a lifetime but ultimately a courageous person as yourself will come out a winner. Thank God you are living in an era where most things are possible with prothesis. Not the way you would have chosen to live your life but for everything there is a reason. I will follow your progress and keep you in my prayers. Maureen

  16. 6-17-2012

    Amy,
You are an inspiration to the world. Not only have you met this head on, but are doing so without pain meds.
God grant you full recovery & day to day I pray nothing overpowers what you have faced in your young life.
    All the best, In Christ.

Glory be to Thee, O Lord my God!

Glory be to Thee, O Lord my God! I beg of Thee by Thy Name through which He Who is Thy Beauty hath been stablished upon the throne of Thy Cause, and by Thy Name through which Thou changest all things, and gatherest together all things, and callest to account all things, and rewardest all things, and preservest all things, and sustainest all thingsโ€”I beg of Thee to guard this handmaiden who hath fled for refuge to Thee, and hath sought the shelter of Him in Whom Thou Thyself art manifest, and hath put her whole trust and confidence in Thee.

She is sick, O my God, and hath entered beneath the shadow of the Tree of Thy healing; afflicted, and hath fled to the City of Thy protection; diseased, and hath sought the Fountainhead of Thy favors; sorely vexed, and hath hasted to attain the Wellspring of Thy tranquillity; burdened with sin, and hath set her face toward the court of Thy forgiveness.

Attire her, by Thy sovereignty and Thy loving-kindness, O my God and my Beloved, with the raiment of Thy balm and Thy healing, and make her quaff of the cup of Thy mercy and Thy favors. Protect her, moreover, from every affliction and ailment, from all pain and sickness, and from whatsoever may be abhorrent unto Thee.

Thou, in truth, art immensely exalted above all else except Thyself. Thou art, verily, the Healer, the All-Sufficing, the Preserver, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Aimee, I am in awe of your strength! In my 63 years I have been through a lot, from Claustridium Perfringens(Gas Gangrene) at 18 to 2 colon resections, knee and shoulkder surgeries, etc., but to see a young person like you persevering against such odds warms my heart! Please know that a lot of us “oldsters” are praying for you as well! Hang in there, and give my best to you brave family as well!

  24. 6-26-2012

We love you Aimee for your braveness and for showing us what real strength is, that is so hard to think that one can endure such pain, you really have what it takes to be a hero.

  25. 6-28-2012

DEAR AIMEE: I, TOO, HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE ARTICLES ON YOU AND YOUR AMAZING COURAGE AND LOOKING FORWARD TO A GOOD FUTURE! YOU ARE TRULY AN INSPIRATION TO EVERYONE, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR AGE. MANY YEARS AGO, I HAD THROAT CANCER – IT WAS ROUGH AND HARD TO COME THROUGH AND WEARING A TRACH IS JUST PART OF MY DAYS NOW, BUT IT WAS SO HARD WHEN IT HAPPENED. EIGHT MONTHS OF EATING THROUGH A TUBE (I CAN’T EVEN LOOK AT A CAN OF ENSURE! – BUT THE NOSE HAS HEALED FROM THE TUBE), AND NINE MONTHS OF NOT TALKING. AT THE TIME, I DID NOT HAVE YOUR ATTITUDE, BUT NOW, SO MANY YEARS LATER, I REALIZE THAT LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE IT, AND YOU DO THE BEST YOU CAN EACH DAY. YOU ARE SO SMART AND DOING IT FROM THE BEGINNING, AND I SO ADMIRE YOU FOR THAT. WE DON’T KNOW WHY THINGS HAPPEN TO US, BUT I KNOW ALL THE PRAYERS PEOPLE ARE SENDING TO YOU DAILY (MINE, TOO!) WILL HELP YOU GET THROUGH THIS AND I KNOW YOU WILL DO A LOT WITH YOUR LIFE – YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS AND ALL OF US PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT YOU THAT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW ARE DOING OUR BEST TO HELP YOU. SINCERELY, AUDREY

Aimee: Your courage is remarkable. I am very happy you have such a loving family and friends to see you through this ordeal. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosopy and a Master’s in
Community Psychology. I am sure your knowledge base in Psychology has helped you to conqure this debilitating disease as well as the support of your family and friends. I live in CT right now but may move to San Antonio in the future or Ireland. If you need additional inspiration, I would recommend the Celtic Woman DVD Believe – it features 3 singers, 1 fiddle player, as well as a full orchestra and back-up singers. Three of the songs they sing are with the children’s choir native to Atlanta, GA – “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” and “Ave Maria” – when I read your story today, I thought of this DVD and the inspirational songs they sing. You are an inspiration to millions throughout the world – may your future be bright and your accomplishments many. Hugs, Pat
